Christian Clothing-Why Wear Christian Clothing?
Wear Christian Clothing
While searching the Internet I found a site that asked “Why Not Wear Christian Clothing?”
Since we are a Christian Company and our goal is to start a Christian clothing store here at Crystal City Clothing we thought we might as well try to answer this question. If we did not think people should wear Christian clothing it wouldn’t make sense for us to start a clothing company with that as our goal.
Wear Christian Clothing looks like an online store that sells Kerusso and Gardenfire Christian Apparel. They also have 1211 Clothing (but we didn’t see any styles from them at the time of this writing). The Christian market is one we want to pursue because we believe they are loyal, honest, hard working folks that have a common bond. Faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Also, if we at Crystal City Clothing can find a common theme or underlying motivation for the Christian community to wear certain clothes we will have a proper business model. Here is the problem…trying to mix business with Christianity may be like adding water to oil. It might just make a mess.
We are passionate about Jesus Christ and we believe God created the first clothes (see Gen 3:21) so it makes sense to combine the two to make a business. What remains to be seen is whether the Christian community will embrace our clothes and passion.
Until next time, remember to Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. (James 4:7)
Christian Clothing Question
When you tell people about Jesus, do properly represent who He is and how He operates?
While reading my Bible this morning I discovered a distinct pattern to the way Jesus conducted a couple of miracles He performed while on Earth. I am talking about the miracles of feeding the 5,000 and 4,000.
As I mediate on how we as believers represent what Jesus did and how we should act in a similar situation. I remember Jesus’ words in John 14:12 that says “all these works and greater works you will do”.(I paraphrase) Does that really mean I can feed that many people with a couple fish sandwiches?
I was not going to write about this today but on my drive in I heard an interview on K-LOVE and it got me thinking just because someone has a microphone, they may not have this Christianity “thing” all figured out.
When believers tell people that God did not heal, bless or do anything for them to “teach” them a lesson, I believe it paints a wrong picture of God to believers and unbelievers as well. We are called to be ambassadors to Christ, which means in my opinion, we need to do our best to properly represent what Jesus would do if He were here instead of you (or me).
The Bible clearly states that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father. (He is not coming back to help) He sent His Spirit to lead us into all Truth but how many really seek the Truth. Most of us use our life experiences to form an opinion of God the Father and if we have a microphone or a specific talent, people gather around and listen.
What if we are wrong? What if what we tell people does not properly represent who God really is or what He really wants to tell the world? I am careful in attaching any attribute to God (This does not make me better, just careful) I do not find in His word. Why? Because I will one day answer for it. Also, what if someone is hurting and seeking God and I’m going through a “rough spot” and tell them God must be punishing me or God must want to use my suffering for His glory.
That sounds spiritual but to an unbeliever, it can mean the difference between spiritual life and death. Why would anyone struggling in the world, come to a God that “punishes” His believers? That does not sound like The Good News to me.
Eternity is a very long time and I believe Jesus came first and foremost to seek and save that which is lost. If we do something to misrepresent that message I think we begin to work against God and not with God.
Sorry this touched a nerve I have about God being misrepresented in word, song and actions. I want to go on the record, I listen to K-Love and even linked to their page. I have nothing against them, or their message and ministry. They do a good job comforting the hurting, broken, lost and abandon but we could always do better. (Remember our standard is perfection).
This has gone on way too long so I will conclude this tomorrow… Until next time, remember to Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. (James 4:7)
